How We Work With Authors
Traditional publishing is a partnership. We work collaboratively with our contracted authors while maintaining the editorial and commercial standards required to produce competitive, market-ready books.
Our Mission
Our mission is to discover and develop distinctive African voices and publish high-quality books that connect Botswana’s stories with readers at home and around the world.
Our Vision
Our vision is to become a respected African publishing house known for editorial excellence, cultural relevance, author development and a carefully curated catalogue of memorable books.
What We Believe
Stories should reflect where we come from
Botswana and Africa have rich histories, cultures and creative traditions. We are committed to publishing stories that preserve this heritage while making room for contemporary ideas, new genres and imaginative possibilities.
Our Commitment to Botswana’s Literary Future
Underpound Publishing is proudly based in Botswana. We want to contribute to an environment in which local writers can develop their talent, publish professionally and reach wider audiences without having to look outside the country for every stage of the publishing process.
We are particularly interested in books that document Botswana’s history and culture, introduce younger readers to local knowledge, and explore African experiences through fresh and engaging storytelling.
At the same time, our outlook extends beyond national borders. We aim to build connections with authors, readers, booksellers, educators, libraries and publishing partners across Africa and international markets.
Work With Us
Writers interested in publishing with Underpound should review our manuscript submission guidelines before sending their work. We only accept manuscripts during announced submission periods, and submission does not guarantee publication.
Booksellers, schools, libraries, sponsors, media organisations and other potential partners are invited to contact us regarding distribution, bulk orders, events, rights, publicity and collaborative projects.
